Masak-masak

The kids love to play masak-masak (pretend cooking) together. They collect all sorts of exotic ingredients from the garden, and dirt serves as rice.

They also love to play rumah-rumah (pretend houses).

Five-Language Get-Together

Once a month translators and friends from all five languages get together to encourage each other and work on a text. These men are discussing a genealogy.

Community Meetings

Philip and Jacob recently facilitated community meetings in four of the five language groups using a 'Participatory Method', designed to help groups identify needs or goals and come up with their own solutions. This group represented the Mlap language.

The Mlap, Mekwei and Gresi groups mapped out a problem together using a tree. The roots represent the causes, the leaves their solutions and the fruit their desired outcomes.

The Kemtuik group discussed the eight key conditions that need to be met in order for a community to fully benefit from a translation.

Vegetable Soup

Soren was so proud of his creation, and now spends hours poring over his very own recipe folder for new things to add to his repertoire. Cooking with Daddy is fast becoming a Saturday tradition.

Autumn 11 months

Autumn felt it prudent to grow her upper fangs first. Having accomplished that she's now working on the middle two.

She's very enamoured with that thumb! Never having had a thumb-sucker, I find it all pretty cute. I know, I know, it won't be when she's 8, or 32..
