April Randoms
Reuben loves to play picnics with anyone willing to join him.
I love that with children, lack of the real thing is rarely an obstacle to play.
Helping Daddy make his daily carrot juice.
In Indonesia we wash up our fruit and vegetables too.
In the zone.
Phil turned a grand old 35 in April. We celebrated with dinner at the Sinclair's and a chocolate cake.
Phil presenting to some of our teachers at language school.
Reuben has a thing for bags..
..and belts.
This is how we buy our water--5 gallons at a time from the local shop.

Kidsland
This is Soren with his main teacher Ms Tintin. How I wish I could pack her in my suitcase and take her with us back to Papua!
Open Day.
Proud boy wins third place in the colouring competition.
Soren and his buddy Nio.
Kidsland is bilingual, which has worked much better for Soren than an all-Indonesian environment.
On finishing a unit at language school, I was greeted by this lovely sight on coming home after my test.

Aussie Friends
After much anticipation, our friends Shane, Mel, Bethany and Isaac arrived in Malang for language study.
Phil cut some bamboo to construct mosquito net frames for their beds.
Their house needed a bit of work before they arrived.
We did some fun things as part of orientation, like visiting a local waterfall.
Reuben and Bethany got reacquainted.
We also went to a zoo/theme park up the mountain. Despite the arctic temperatures Soren and Phil braved the pool.
I love Soren's crazy zany side.
Something appears to have happened to my family.
Phew, that's better! Soren on the tractor ride, ready with his cup of carrots and apples to feed the animals.
Mel's mum Raelene came and helped out for their first few weeks, which was fantastic.
We were ambushed by an overly friendly and slobbery camel.
Not sure what Spongebob was doing in the acquarium section. Not sure where Reuben's other thong is either.
Sydney December 2010: Friends
We caught up with a few friends, and sometimes even remembered to take pictures. After an epic catch-up with Helen in Newtown, we joined Phil and Jon for a scrumptious dinner at their place.
Jon and Helen.
Tash and Christian with Violette and Thomas, whom we got to meet for the first time.
Phil and Lil with gorgeous Susie.
Ruth was on furlough in Sydney--brilliant timing!
Classic I.am.not.amused Ruth look.
Lamps dropped in too.
We flew to Sydney via Perth, which allowed us to catch up with the Whitfields, which was so, so nice. Here Soren and Reuben do some drawing with Zac and Sam.
